The new Internship Regulations provide for three types of internships:
1) "External" internships to be carried out at institutions affiliated with the University of Florence (private or public organizations and companies): the list of affiliated institutions can be found in the internship section of the University website (St@ge On Line Service).
2) "Internal" internships to be carried out at University facilities such as the Central Administration Areas, the Library System, the Museum System, and Service Centers.
3) Internal Training Activities to be carried out at the DST laboratories. These activities are notconsidered internships but may be recognized for the purpose of earning credits for a curricularinternship.
The request for an internship or internal training activity must be submitted to the Presidency of the Degree Course Committee at least one month before the start date, under penalty of non-recognition of the activity. The internship must be completed, for a total of 150 hours, over a period of approximatelyno less than 2 months and no more than 4 months.
External Internships and Internal Internships (St@ge Online Service)
Through the University's St@ge Service, students and recent graduates can manage their internships by completing the online form. They can also:
- search for companies that have signed agreements with the University of Florence to host interns.
- apply for an internship by providing a profile of their skills, based primarily on language proficiency and basic IT skills, along with a brief description of their fields of interest, work experience, willingnessto travel, etc.
- search the database for internship offers offered by companies by cross-referencing the information in the offers with their own profile or by modifying the search parameters as desired. Companies can do the same by searching for students with profiles that meet their offer criteria.
- apply for an internship offer, just as companies can select one or more students for their offers. Bothstudents and companies can cancel an internship offer.
Both parties can communicate with each other, as well as with the University offices responsible for thisservice, via the program's internal messaging system.
The messaging service allows students without an email address to communicate with both offices and companies.
By providing their email address, the system automatically converts and sends messages via email.
