Principles of groundwater hydrology: permeability, transmissivity, storage. General equation of flow in satured porous media, Laplace's eq, flow nets, graphic solution. Infiltration, Richards' eq. Empiric solutions for infiltration. SCS-Curve Number method. Green-Ampt method. Hydrologic cycle and water balance, input/output relationships. Hydrograph of direct runoff over a watershed during a specified duration. Groundwater and well hydraulics in steady state. Dupuit-Forcheimer conditions. Complete wells in confined and unconfined aquifers. Thiem's eq, Dupuit's eq. Assessment of groundwater pollution risk and vulnerability. DRASTIC and SINTACS methods. Introduction to groundwater modeling. MODFLOW and ModelMuse (GUI). Modeling grids, layers, object, data-sets. 2D and 3D modeling approaches for the steady state. Resolution of case-studies in MODFLOW/ModelMuse. Framework of the national and regional law system about water resources and their protection.
